VeriSign (VRSN) said on Monday
it would review its controversial new service that directs
people to a Verisign webpage when a wrong domain name is
entered. The company was sued today by a major competitor
GoDaddy.com who is the fastest growing registrar in the domain
business. This makes two lawsuits the company is going to have
to deal with going forward. Are more lawsuits on the way?
VeriSign said it was creating a committee of "Internet
leaders" to advise it on technical matters although it planned
to continue offering its SiteFinder service. In addition,
Verisign spokesman Tom Galvin responded with the following
statment; "We're not backing down, but we will work with
others."
